Water Source

Cannon Creek Lake is the pristine water source for the Pineville Water System. It is located in Bell County, Kentucky, about 6 miles south of Pineville just west of US25E. Construction of the lake was completed in 1972 and it was opened to fishing in 1975. Power boats are not allowed on the lake and ATV and off-road vehicle traffic is prohibited on the dam and land adjacent to the lake. Swimming is also prohibited in the lake. The drainage area of the lake was designated unsuitable for surface mining in 1988, the first such designation in the Commonwealth.
