Management

The Pineville Utility Commission is an enterprise fund of the City of Pineville. Being an enterprise fund simply means that, although owned and operated by a local government entity, the utility is run as a business enterprise and is supported by cost-of-service based rates, fees and charges for its services rather than by tax revenues. While owned by the City of Pineville, the Pineville Utility Commission is vested by ordinance with the responsibility for the daily management, operation and maintenance of the utility system. The Commission operated separately from the City and is governed by its own board. The role of the City in the utility is to own its property, issue its debt, set its rates and charges, and appoint its board.
